〜せいで
Work stopping because of the breakdown is a negative result, so the blaming cause marker 〜せいで is used.
Tested at JLPT N3 — 3 practice questions below.
Practice 〜せいで →〜せいで attributes an undesirable outcome to a cause: 故障したせいで = "because it broke down (unfortunately)." おかげで is the positive counterpart ("thanks to") — stopped work is not a blessing. ためなら forms a conditional "if for the sake of," and ところで marks a moment or concession — neither states a negative cause.
