い形容詞＋くない
あまり leads the softened negation: その映画はあまり長くないです — 'That movie isn't very long.'

Practice い形容詞＋くない →To negate an i-adjective, drop the final い and add くない (高い → 高くない); です after it simply makes it polite. ありません would also negate politely but crashes into the です already in the sentence, いない belongs to existence verbs for living things, and なくて is the て-form that needs a following clause.
