How it's used

V-た + ばかりだ states that an action was completed recently — 'just ~ed' on the speaker's subjective scale, so it can combine with 先週 when the purchase still feels fresh. 「ところだ」 also means 'just did' but pins the event to the immediate moment, conflicting with an explicit 'last week'. 「はずだ」 is expectation and 「ことだ」 is advice — neither expresses recency.
