Practice 〜としても →「〜たとしても / 〜だとしても」 means 'even if ~'. The sentence concedes the result may be a failure, then affirms the experience was not wasted: 結果が失敗だったとしても / 挑戦した経験は / 無駄にはならない. The concessive chunk occupies ★; 挑戦した経験は then leads the main clause, and 無駄には+ならない closes it.
