〜ために
The speaker studies Japanese in order to work in Japan.
Tested at JLPT N4 — 11 practice questions below.
Practice 〜ために →〜ために attaches to the dictionary form of a controllable verb (働くために) to state a goal: 'in order to work in Japan'. ようで is the appearance form ('as if'), not a purpose marker — purpose with よう requires ように. しか only works in 〜しか〜ない and can't introduce a goal. ほど marks extent and would read 'to the extent of working', which is meaningless before 勉強しています.
